The Territory’s own home grown short film festival is in its 12th year at a great new venue The Darwin Entertainment Centre.
The Galah Awards Screening and Award Presentation is scheduled for 7pm on November 19 at The Studio Theatre followed by live music from Mark Hilton and the Two Few beside the bar. Free entry.
Winners of the prestigious Galah Awards receive a highly coveted Galah (think Oscar Territory style) and big cash prizes up to $1,000 each.
Awards include Best Film, Best Music Video, Best Documentary, Best Indigenous Film, Best Cinematography and Peoples Choice.
Over fifty entries were received by the May deadline from a range of filmmakers, including a variety of styles, genres and filmmaking techniques.
There’s a fantastic array of cinematic concoctions for your viewing pleasure.
A wide range of filmmakers from first-timers to the highly accomplished have invested their passion and perseverance into the often pain-staking process of making a film.
Some will make it onto the big screen at The Deckchair Cinema on Sundays in 2012 where theyre revamping the old-school tradition of showing shorts before a feature.
At 5 o’clock it's time for the fabulous Fist Full of Films Winning Formula Forum with a panel of past winners including Todd Williams, Will Tinapple and Huni Bolliger. We'll screen some of their award winning films and discuss what makes a film a winner.
There is a screening at 3.30pm of notable non-finalists as well as several small screens in the Darwin Entertainment Centre foyer, screening other entrants and notable Territory-made short films.
